Since coming to power, the coalition government has promised it will look at the IR35 laws through it’s new office to simplify the UK tax system.
Many contractors have taken this as the death of IR35. However there is a clear warning to not jump the gun.
HMRC are still using their powers to investigate contractors, freelancers and consultants on a number of the IR35 issues and it would seem they intend to carry on doing this until the government decides whether or not to abolish this very controversial law.
Make sure you investigate your contracts for being caught by IR35.
