A couple of weeks ago I was invited to visit my son’s kindergarten class and observe his day firsthand. I was amazed at how well he played with his classmates. Often times he was even the center of attention. One time in particular was when he and a little girl were playing with the play kitchen. He was so busy putting together an imaginary meal that his classmates took notice and gathered around. At the end of the day I shared with the teacher how amazed I was to see this. She told me that the kitchen was the most popular toy in the room because it combined a child’s need to play and imagine.
