Langara Island is to salmon and halibut fishing that Australia is to marlin and sailfish. Langara, the northern most island in the Queen Charlotte archipelago is revered by anglers the worldwide and due to its remoteness, fishermen are flown in by floatplane. The pristine waters surrounding Langara are home to a multitude of marine life and dolphins, whales and squadrons of sea birds often accompany the anglers. Langara island halibut fishing is often incidental to salmon fishing, but this bottom fishing adventure seldom fails to excite even the most seasoned fishermen. Halibut are fished with bait including herring, mackerel heads and their special treat of octopus. Halibut of fifty to over three hundred pounds are caught frequently.
