Cell phone blocker technology is being used by police to control communications in hostage situations. Once the police arrive at the scene of the crime the cell phone blocker is activated as well as the land lines being disabled. One line of communication is left active and that is to the hostage negotiator. The police want to have complete control of the situation and who the hostage taker contacts. If the hostage taker try’s to contact anyone they soon realise that the only line of communication is to the police who have surrounded them. This gives the police a much better chance of preventing anyone from being hurt and convincing the hostage taker to give themselves up.
The cell phone blocker works by transmitting on the same frequency that cell phones use to communicate. Any cell phones within the blockers range will display a no signal message and be unreachable.
